Being a pedestrian in New Zealand is unique experience! The first and most noticeable feature is that vehicles are driven on the left-hand side of the road. But this feature is not unique in itself. There are two more features that can be added to this: firstly, a majority of the pedestrian crossings are located near schools, and secondly, a low numbers of traffic light on roads that are rather long (length), many of that which don't allow you to cross without a little jog. Otherwise, if you wish to shorten the distance of the path, you can cross it diagonally. Walking barefoot is also something I have noticed kiwis doing quite often. The reason behind this is unknown to me, perhaps it makes them walk faster?
