Auckland Museum is quite good. There are a number of rooms dedicated to the history of New Zealand since the arrival of Maori people. The museum also describes the culture and civilizations of many Pacific Islands. The Natural history floor is very entertaining. You can see stuffed specimen of nearly all native species of birds and hundreds of drawers with invertebrates collections from Australia and South-East Asia. More photos on "First impressions"
