Devonport is located in front of Auckland harbour, across the Hauraki Gulf. So it is relatively easy to get there by ferry. To be honest, the town itself doesn't offer that much, but if you walk to the summit of the volcano, you will be able to enjoy a magnificient views of Auckland and of other islands in the Gulf. Kiwis take advantatge of this area for all kinds of Sunday and holiday activities.
