New Zealanders call themselves Kiwis, not referring to the fruit but the bird. So if you don't want to offend anyone, you should make sure that you ask for kiwifruits when you buy some fruit. On the other hand, as Kiwis, they have their customs and their own way of doing things... a kind of British style but with a touch of spontaneity that makes them unique.
